Accommodations and IEP

Nordy, your CNA study buddy

At CNA, we firmly believe every student thrives within a flexible, supportive learning environment. Academic accommodations improve accessibility to course content while preserving the core knowledge and skills students are required to master. To set all learners up for success, we have integrated the following supports across every course we offer:

  • Fully narrated lessons delivered by certified teachers, enhanced with interactive activities and multimedia resources
  • Pre-recorded video lessons that may be paused and replayed unlimited times to facilitate full comprehension, with playback
  • navigable precisely to each individual slide.
  • Diverse assessment formats, enabling students to showcase their understanding through multiple approaches

English Language Learner Support

Before enrollment, English language learners may submit information regarding their current English proficiency level, or participate in CNA’s English proficiency online test. This background information or test results enable CNA teachers and guidance counselors to place students into appropriate ESL courses, adopt targeted teaching strategies and implement appropriate linguistic accommodations, ensuring effective academic support for multilingual students.

IEP Accommodations

CNA works with students who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) to provide appropriate accommodations, so every learner can demonstrate their true ability.

  • extended time
  • flexible pacing
  • adapted assessment methods

What Is an IEP?

An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a legally recognized document in Ontario. It mandates schools to deliver specific accommodations and academic modifications tailored to support students’ learning and course success. Similar support documents exist internationally, such as the 504 Plan widely used in the United States. While Canada Nord Academy’s flexible online learning model already accommodates many common learning needs, our guidance team is prepared to arrange further personalized support for students who require additional assistance.

Students with an Existing IEP

Students who hold a valid IEP issued by an Ontario elementary or secondary school may have their documented accommodations implemented at Canada Nord Academy, provided these supports are compatible with our online learning setting. To proceed, students must submit a copy of their official IEP to the CNA guidance team via email at admissions@nordeducatoin.com.

Students Without an IEP

Students in need of academic accommodations who do not yet have an Ontario IEP can work with a CNA guidance advisor to assess their learning requirements and develop a suitable support plan. Applicants are required to submit valid supporting evidence, such as overseas accommodation records or professional recommendations from qualified healthcare providers.
